Director Analysis

Marcos Siega (born June 8, 1969 in New York) is a film, television, commercial, and music video director. He has also worked as a producer and a musician.
In the late 1980s he helped form the New York based punk band Bad Trip, releasing two full length records and numerous EPs. When he began directing music videos, many bands and musicians noted that Siega's background in rock music was beneficial. He has worked with bands such as  Weezer,system of a Down, P.O.D, Pappa Roach, Blink-182, The All-American Rejects and many more. His 2000 video for Blink-182's "All The Small Things" garnered him three MTV Video Music Award  nominations and he was nominated for a Grammy Award for his Pappa Roach video "Broken Home". In 2001 he signed with award winning commercial production company Hungryman Films and made his move into the spot world.

Codes and Conventions of music album magazine advert

Image


  • The Image should link to the image on the album cover or be relevant to the image
  • it can be the same image as on the album or be different, but usually have same context, for example a picture of the artist that's on the album might be a different image of the artist on the advert.
  • sometimes there is a boarder around the whole advert, however some adverts do not have this, but the both look equally as effective in putting across the message.


Text and Information on advert

  • The artist/band name is usually in big bold writing to grab the readers attention
  • The name of the album tends to smaller than the artist names but still big enough for reader to see
  • The advert will usually have the tour dates on and the venues of these dates
  • At the bottom of the advert in small writing there is usually a website which relates to artist and the names of any  production company's they are with such as 'Sony'
  • In some adverts there can also be reviews from newspapers saying how much they rated the album giving it stars out of 5
  • There is also a logo of an music company which distributes music such as iTunes
